The lands outlined on the plan attached as Schedule "A* to this Agreement are
reserve lands within the meaning of the Indian Act, R.S.C., 1985, ¢. 1-5, located in
the Province of British Columbia, known as the Coquitlam Indian Reserve No. 2
(the "Reserve". |

The City operates a Fire Department to protect persons and property in the City.

The Band desires to obtain fire protection services for the Reserve from the City,
Section 286.1 of the Municipal Act empcwers the Council of the City to enter into

an agreement with the Council of an Indian Band to provide municipal services to

land within a reserve. a es _
