Attached is a letrer from James Mack, a resident at 1758 Windermere Ave. requesting that the Engineering dept. enclose the ditch in front of 1758 and 1766 Windermere with storm sewer. Mr. Mack is concerned that during the next heavy rainfall, the ditch will fill up and overflow into his basement. Storm sewer services this street except for five house that are serviced by ditches. The ditch in front of 1766 is swaled and is maintained by the owner. The ditch in front of 1758 is not swaled and ig overgrown with vegetation.(See photos) These houses, 1758 and 1766 Windermere are situated lower than the ditches. The land slopes downward from approximately 1776 Windermere to Wellingtion St. Natural gravity drains the ditche- to the lane west of Wellington , then to the ditch in the back lane. (See mar: OPTIONS: Listed below are several options for the P.W.C. to consider to aeviate the drainage problem at 1758 Windermere: : Option 1 Swale the ditch in front of 1758 Windermere Ave. to create a 1.5m wide ditch (approx.) This would allow the owner to control vegetation growth and thus allow stom water to flow freely.
