8 Terrace Review — Wednesday, May 7, 1986 Spo OLE Fitness challenge - planned TERRACE — Spring is coming and with it many people’s thoughts are turning to fitness and outdoor activities. Many towns and cities are participating in Na- tional Physical Activity Week which is May 24 to June 1. Terrace, Kitimat and Prince Rupert are participating by holding a community fitness challenge. , The idea is for the communities to have as many people as possible participate in 15 minutes of physical activity on May 28. The 15 minutes of physical activity can be anything from walk- ing, cycling, hiking swimming or jogging to participating in an exer- cise class or any other ac- tivity of your choice. The Terrace recreation department will be registering everyone who participates and the com-- munity with the highest turnout, based on the percentage of their population, wins! If this inspires Terrace residents to start being physically active on a regular basis, then the community wins no matter what the figures say. The District of Terrace Parks and Recreation Department will be coor- dinating the Terrace Fitness Challenge. Rep- resentatives will be visiting schools, businesses, community organizations, and pro- grams to encourage peo- ple to participate as a group or as individuals. All that is required of each person is to com- plete [5 minutes of con- tinuous physical activity and register that you have done so. The recreation department Letter continued from page § There are days when I tire as a Habitat Protec- tion Technician. I- ask myself, who is it for whom I am doing this work? Many children will become sick and many of them will die because of our afrogance concern- ing science and truth. Much land will become dead too, unusable for growing life on. It is also for the sick children of the world that I shed my tears and for the sick children to come.
