THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C ยข \ i SEP 8 {ga0 MEMORANDUM Mayor and Aldermen September 4th, R.A. Freeman City Clerk New Street Names We are advised by Alderman Michael Wright that the Street Naming Committee has selected the following two names for new roads in the City: 1. Leacock Street This name would be applied to the new street being constructed between Warwick Avenue and Marshall Avenue just east of Pitt River Road. Mr. W.C. Leacock was an early resident of this area and served as an Alderman on the Port Coquitlam Council from 1927 until 1931 and from 1934 to 1937. Both Mr. and Mrs. Leacock passed away a short time ago and were residents of the City until that time. We believe a son and daughter still reside in the City. The family has been contacted and have no objection to this proposal. 2. Maxwell Place The Conmittee is suggesting that this name-be applied to the new cul-de- sac being constructed on the south side of the 1700 Block Westminster Avenue, Miss Winter Maxwell was, in 1916, a teacher at James Park School and organized the first May Day (although, for some reason, this was not considered the first official May Day). As far as we are able to determine there are no relatives of Miss Maxwell living, at least in the City, at the present time. Maps are attached to the reverse side of this memorandum showing the lecations of the new strects. RAF/dv | 7 bl- D) R.A. Freeman, City Clerk.
