oy £ as 1 MAYOR'S OF FICE . bees NEW WESTMINSTER : BRITISH COLUMBIA JAN 10 1972 December 14th, 1971. Mayor and Council, City of Port Coquitlam, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. Gentlemen: As you know, the Greater Vancouver Regional District has undertaken housing as one of its functions and the Housing Department is now commencing operations. Although general guidance and help will be given by the municipal representatives on the Board, the personal assistance of all individ- ual cities and municipalities will be required to make the programme work to all of our advantages. The suggested methods of development are varied and will be put into operation in the near future; however, any programme of construction has one major, very essential prerequisite before it can ‘commence ~ that is, of course, the availability of land. itis felt that each city or municipality will have within ‘Its portfolio land which is suitable for housing and which is either thus zoned or may be rezoned without tco much difficulty. mo The Housing Committee would be grateful if it could be made aware of any such parcels of land within your City and which your Council would be prepared to sell to the Regional District at market price. We would, therefore, appreciate you having your Planning Consultants send details of any such land within your City to the attention of Williom E. Casson, Diractor of Housing, Greater Vancouver Regional District. Mayor M. S. Evers, Chairman, Regional Housing Committee.
