8 Terrace Review — Wednesday, April 30, 1986 Races in planning stage Triathlon races, in- volving three separate methods of motion over lengthy courses are start- ing to become almost as popular as marathons and half-marathon races. Now, it appears Terrace and Kitimat will both host events this summer. Plans for the Terrace race are still it seems the big event will be part of Riverboat Days in August. A spokesman for the event said the ground- | : ° work is already laid, and that all they need is athletes and people to run the show. As of today, the course would include Starting at the Skeena Mall. Bicyclists would ride to Lakelse Lake. Then they would canoe out on a five-kilometer circuit on the lake. The last leg consists of two runners splitting the distance on the jaunt back to the Skeena Mall. .A meeting to tighten up plans was held last night at the Inn of the West. Kitimat’s plans call for the cycling leg from Kitimat to the Kitimat River bridge, followed by a canoe trip down the river to the Crown Zellerbach bridge, then an eight-mile run to the city. Tammy Gray honored again Terrace’s. Tammy Gray, who set the B.C. sports world ablaze last summer by winning nine gold medals in physically handicapped swimming at the B.C, Summer Games in Nanaimo, is adding to her honors this week. The 15-year-old stu- dent from the Jericho Hill School for the Deaf in Vancouver, appeared before the B.C. Legislature in Victoria Tuesday where Premier Bill Bennett presented her with a special plaque in honor of her outstan- ding achievement.
