DISCUSSION:

The materials to be dredged from the river will be used to pre-load the
area adjacent to the Mary Hill Bypass between Kingsway Avenue and the Lougheed
Highway. This pre-loaded and filled area will accommodate the re-alignment
and widening of the Mary Hill Bypass, proposed by the Ministry of
Transportation and Highways.

As the dredging will be located off shore and the unloading of materials
will occur at an existing barge unleading facility, the activities proposed in
this application do not conflict with the City's existing or proposed uses in
the area. The Planning Department therefore has no objections to this
