-~3- applied for the Parks and Recreation Director's position when it was advertised and is quite capable of filling the position. Janna has her degree from Simon Fraser University majoring in recreation planning, and urban geography. She has had experience with a number of recreation programs around the Lower Mainland and has been a very enthusiastic addition to our recreation staff since July of last year. I feel quite confident that she could fill the position adequately and I would recommend her appointment to Council. 3. Lewis Property - Kingsway Street The Lewis property which was purchased by the City under the Urban Renewal Scheme has been vacated and I have discussed demolition with the Fire Chief. We feel that the building can be bulldozed away from the street and burnt on the site. The Building Inspector and myself have inspected the property and we feel that there is very little of any value in the building. At the present time it is very hazardous and I don't feel that there would be any advantage in advertising the building for demolition as there is virtually no salvage value. There are still quite a number of old fridges and other metal articles left around the premises and we will be arranging to have the site cleaned up as soon as possible. 4. Motor Vehicle Licence Sales In view of the anticipated motor vehicle licence rush towards the end of February, we have arranged to locate the entire sales operation in the Fire Hall commencing February 12th, 1973. The location has several advantages over the City Hall in that there is more space to accommodate the long line ups that generally occur. The sales operation will be located on the second floor and the Fire Department have consented and are co-operating in the exercise. Other locations were investigated but none seemed to offer the convenience and security of this particular location. We hope that there will be no objections from the public. Next year we should te back to normal and have the sales from the City Hall as usual. In addition to the foregoing the licence office will be open for sales on Saturday, February 24th as will the other motor vehicle offices in the Province.
