Ald.Keryluk re property,fence NW corner August 22nd, 1977 Coquitlam and District Hunting and Fishing Club, and speaking in support of the request contained in the above~stated letter from the Club, he stated that as the Pollution Control Act does not recognize objections from other chan property owners, it was felt the City would qualify to act on behalf of the Club in that regard. Alderman Keryluk stated his view that there should be some better way of informing municipalities of possible pollution in their rivers than having to rely on advice from citizens; however, the City Clerk pointed out that the Greater Vancouver Regional District always advises the municipality in which such a proposed discharge is located. Alderman Mabbett stated he objected to the application being approved by the Board until either a Public Hearing takes place or a meeting with the Council is held about not receiving notification of the application. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the Pollution Control Board be notified immediately that the Municipal Council of the City of Port Coquitlam ebjects to any permit bei.ig issued for the discharge of effluent into the Coquitlam River until a Public Hearing is held, and that the City intends to prepare a brief for early submission to the Board in that regard. Carried. Alderman Keryluk referred to property situated at the North-west ,ete. corner of Prairie Avenue and Flint Street bordered by a picket fence, Flint & Prairie Ald. Laking re and Mayor Campbell agreed with his suggestion that as the property juts out at the corner and restricts the vision of motorists, that the Traffic Committee investigate the feasibility of acquiring a small portion from the owner in order to correct the problem. Alderman Laking referred to the expiration of a 90-day notice to ‘removal of top soil- Allard pro- perty~South of remove top soil stockpiled at the "Allard" property, and the City Engineer .Beaver Lbr.Co. advised that the owner requested an extension of time in order to complete the mixing and sale thereof.
