CORPORATION GF THE Ci 2272 McALLISTER AVENUE Y OF POST COQUITLAM PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. TELEPHONE: 941.5411 ; OUR FILE DRAFT Z August 7, 1973 Director, Pollution Control Branch, F Parliament Buildings, : VICTORIA, B.C. Dear Sir: i : Re: Application for a Permit Under the Pollution Control Act, 1967 (Effluent) ! - Esco Limited. i i Reference is made to the above mentioned application, copies of : which are attached hereto. This application has been investigated by the City's Environmental Protection Sub~committee and considered by the City Council : at the regular Council Meeting held Monday, August 6th, 1973 and I have been directed to forward the following comments for your consideration: 1. The temperature and pH limits on the application are quite broad. The City assumes that should problems arise because of this, the limits will be reduced accordingly. 2. The discharge from the foundry has been noted to be extremely discolored possibly due to the high tron content from Esco's well water supply. The ditch along the North side of Kingsway to which the effluent discharges eventually runs through a semi-rural residential area of the City. It is requested that you consider requiring sufficient treatment of this discolored effluent to meet aesthetically acceptable standards. Yours truly, i R.A.
