Hydro and con- sequenily have the time, energy and the will to serve the taxpayers in area ‘C’, the area in which I reside. For those who are not familiar with this regional district area, it takes in Lakelse Lake, Kitarmmaat. Village, old and new Remo,. Rosswood, Usk, Copperside Estates, Gossan Creek, Kicanza, Dutch Valley, Kitselas, Kitsum- kalum, and north Terrace outside the city boundary. Gordon Robinson Born and raised in Kitamaat Village, he was educated in -the Coqualectza Indian Residential School in Sardis in the Fraser Valley, He returned to Kitamaat Village and was a commercial fishermen for five years... He married Phyllis Shaw in 1941 and they had four children. He tock teacher training in the Provincial. Normal . School in Vancouver in 1945-46. : He taught school in Kitamaat Village for five years. Because a teacher’s salary at that time. was $185 per month he supplemented his salary by logging during the summer months for five years. In 1951 the Kitimat Con- stractors arrived in the Kitamaat area 10 build Alcan’s aluminum smelter. . Gordon obtained ‘employment with Kitimat: Constructors. for three years. With the completion of the aluminum smelter he transferred to Alcan in 1954 and remained with Alcan until 1966. :. While employed’ by Alcan he wrote the book Tales of Kitamaat which has ‘had nine printings: ant, is stilt in print... °° He also wrote numerous atticles for the Ingot-which is Alcan’s plant newspaper. These. articles’ concemed local ‘Indian life prior: to the arrival of the missionaries: and Alcan in the Kitamaat area. We were not successful in all of these ventures but il did bring the issues to the proper authorities. T am a staunch supporter of Sandy Sandhals public and private facilities that will provide our youth with healthy activities to occupy their leisure time.
