of Hezclton gare a party last Satur-
day night in honor of Bobby Benson
who left the following Monday for Van
couver where he will . attend high
school, Bobby was presented with a
kuife by his friends. They had a very
good time at the party and those liv-
ing near the hall thought the Japanese

had started an air raid on the town.

Miss Eleanor Goard, teacher at Wal-
eott for the last two years, has been
engaged to teach the superior schoo}
in New Hazelton to succeed Mitchell
Newman. Miss Gonard is well qualified

A recently completed survey of the
British Columbia Forest Service shows
that in the last ten years 42 per cent of
all freight enrried within the province
was either timber or a product direct-
ly traceable to timber for its origin.
The products included in the survey
were lumber, paper and pulp products,
‘hese latter included building board,
fibre shingles and roofing materials.

‘Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher from the B.
C. Museum spent several days in Haz-
elton last week preparatory to a trip
into Tatla Lake, going vin Babine lake.
They are equipped with moving eram-
eras, ete,, and will take pictures of
wild life in the interlor. They left on
Saturday with a four borse pack train
and inteud to remain in the wilds for
a yeur.

J, C, K. Sealy was in the district ov-
er the week end. He says be has ev-
ery hope of completing the deal for his
eleven hundred acre farm-in the Bulk-
ley Valley. One of the Swiss leaders
is the prospective purchaser. The deal
when completed will be all cash, and
wilt include the completement equip-
ment and crops as well.as the land.
This year between $50 and 375 tons of
hay have been put up and the grain is
not yet ready.. Mr, Sealy has another
500 acres not far away but he is very
