THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and Council January 20th, FROM: Planning & Zoning Committee Re: Duplex Application - 2196 Laurier Avenue In connection with the application for approval of a duplex at 2196 Laurier Avenue, the Planning & Zoning Committee were asked to consider the interpretation of the by-law in this particular case. If you will note the map attached to the Building Inspector's report you will see that Laurier Avenue continues in a westerly direction and takes a jog to the south before it proceeds past the subject property. The distance from an existing duplex on the corner of Laurier Avenue and Edinburgh Street is less than the required 600 feet. It would appear that that in a strict interpretation of the By-law the duplex should not be permitted otherwise it will open up the question of whether or not a jog in the street can be interpreted as being a different street. The Planning & Zoning Committee considered this question and feel that the interpretation that could be applied is that the duplex should be permitted. LDP/ dv ee = L.D. Pollock City Administrator
