July 31 and August 1, It was a Riverboat Days event sponsored by the Totem Saddle Club of Terrace with 47 horses entered. Two of these were from Kitimat, three from. Houston and one from Smithers. Cathy and Peggy Jackson and Bev Shaw of Terrace were the organizers. Judges arrived from out of town for the occasion, Rita Divlin of Maple Ridge judged the English mode’ of riding and horse training, and Paddy Lear flew. in from Okanagan Falls to judge western capability.” a The grounds were open to the. public at 8 a. m. “Sun- day, July 31 where livestock was receiving last minute at- tention. Manes and tails were braided, apaloosa spots or buckskin groomed to a sheen, harnesses tested. - All those winners up to sixth place were given ribbons, first place in each age group received trophies, and first, second and third placings won prize money. - Terrace area members of the Totem Saddle Club used the Riverboat Days parade as an op- portunity to remind local residents of the two-day.
