It’s called the Skeena Valley Minor Hockey League and has games scheduled from now un- til the end of January. Playoff games leading up to the B.C. finals will be held in February. Teams have an equal number of Friday night and Saturday morning games at home and on the road. When travel- ing, the host team pro- vides billets for the youngsters, This weekend sees Ter- Oldtimers. gearing up from late October to mid-April faces area oldtimer hockey teams, with possible trips to Phoenix, Arizona and Montreal to top off the year. The Terrace Timber- men will take part in about seven tour- naments, plus numerous exhibition games against commercial and midget minor hockey teams. Terrace starts with a tournament at Prince Rupert on Oct. 25th weekend, Following this on Remembrance Day weekend in November it’s a series at Vanderhoof. The only December action is a tournament at Smithers on Dec. 6th weekend. Houston has a January tournament, but no dates have been set. On Feb. 7th weekend, it’s Burns Lake’s turn to play host to area old- timers. The Timbermen have their series on Feb. 14th weekend. The last area tournament comes in March at Kitimat. Plans are still up in the air, but the Canadian oldtimers association is looking at a major tour- nament at Phoenix, Arizona in late March. The world cup old- timers championship featuring dozens of teams from Europe and North America will finish off the season dur- ing the first week of April. A season running» race Peewees hosting the Kitimat Peewees Friday night starting at 8 p.m., and Saturday morning starting at 10:05 a.m. Prince Rupert’s Midgets will also be in Terrace against the local Midgets team Friday night at 10 p.m, and Saturday at noon.
