C’est avec plaisir que je salue chaleureusement tous
ceux et celles qui participent au neuviéme Festival du sucre
d’érable.

Cet événement propose un rendez-vous unique pour
la dégustation des produits de l’érable, au plus grand plaisir des
petits comme des grands. Le theme de l’édition 2009 met en vedette
l’Acadie, dont la riche culture est relatée a travers un large
éventail d’activités. Ce festival est aussi l’occasion de célébrer le
fait francophone par la découverte d’artistes d’ici et d’ailleurs qui
animeront ces journées particuliéres dans la joie de vivre.

Au nom du gouvernement du Canada, je félicite les
organisateurs et les nombreux bénévoles de leur admirable travail
et souhaite a tous et a toutes un festival des plus agréables.

Depuis déja prés d’une décennie, le Festival du sucre
d’érable rassemble francophones et francophiles de
l’fle de Vancouver pour célébrer un élément important _

de notre patrimoine gastronomique : le sucre d’érable. : ~~

Cette année, en hommage au Congrés mondial "
acadien, I’ Association des francophenes de Nanaimo
a choisi le théme de |’ Acadie. Pour joindre l’utile a
l’agréable, elle organise une tournée dans les écoles
de la province, tout en permettant aux festivaliers de
vivre au rythme de la culture acadienne le temps du
Festival.

Au nom du Premier ministre Stephen Harper et du
gouvernement du Canada, je suis fier d’appuyer ce
festival qui stimule l’économie locale et dynamise
la communauté de Nanaimo, et je salue tous ceux et
celles qui font de ce festival un incontournable pour
les gens de la région.

Iam pleased to extend my warm greetings to
everyone taking part in the 9th Annual Maple Sugar Festival.

This event provides a unique opportunity for both
young and old to come together to savour the exceptional taste of
maple products. The programming this year showcases Acadia,
whose rich culture is brought to life through a wide variety of
activities. The Festival is also a time to celebrate the Francophone
fact by discovering artists from here and abroad, who will instill
joie de vivre into these special days.

On behalf of the Government of Canada, I commend
thé organizers and the many volunteers on their wonderful work
and wish everyone a most enjoyable time at the Festival.

For close to a decade, the Maple Sugar Festival has
brought together Francophones and Francophiles from
Vancouver Island to celebrate a key element of our
culinary heritage: maple sugar. This year, as a tribute
to the World Acadian Congress, the Association des
francophones de Nanaimo has chosen the theme of
L’ Acadie. To make the event enjoyable and instructive,
it is organizing a tour of the province’s schools and
giving festival-goers the opportunity to experience
Acadian culture at the Festival.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and
the Government of Canada, I am proud to support
this festival that stimulates the local economy and
contributes to the vitality of Nanaimo. I congratulate
everyone who works to make this an event that the
region’s residents will not want to miss.
