THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM TQ: B.R. Kirk DATE: May 5, 1993 City Administrator FROM: LR. Zahynacz, P. Eng., FILE: 304.2 City Engineer SUBJECT: KILMER SCHOOL DROP-OFF PROJECT (Public Work Committee Meeting Of May 4/93) RECOMMENDATIONS: That the City approve the construction of a gravel angle parking area on Pooley Avenue in front of Kilmer School complete with drainage and curb let-downs at an estimated cost of $15,200.00. That $15,200.00 be allocated from the Special Public Works Capitol Reserve Fund for this purpose. PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND COSTS: The attached Plan 1 shows the proposed drop-off facility east of Kilmer School for a partly paved and partly graveled drop-off facility for 10 vehicles. The estimated cost of the drop-off facility is $23,800.00. The attached Plan 2 shows a 21 vehicle angle parking area on Pooley directly north of Kilmer School which would involve the placement of gravel to extend the existing shoulder on the south side of Pooley. It is estimated that the cost for this werk plus curb let-down and drainage work on road right-of-way would be $15,200.00. COST-SHARING OPTIONS: OPTION 1: The City pays for construction on road right-of-way and the School District pays for construction on school property. Assuming that the City pays for the drainage works and the 21 stall angle parking area, the City’s share would be $15,200.00 and the School District’s share wou! 1 be $23,800.00. The School District builds both facilities and the City pays a cash contribution. It is estimated that the cost for the parallel parking and the drop-off areas would be $39,000.00. The School District could build both facilities and the City could make a financial contribution to the School District on an agreed cost sharing percentage split. iTEM | PAGE }
