A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of The City
of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall,
2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, September 09th, 1991,
at 7:30 p.m.

His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Aldermen M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon,
J.J. Keryluk, R.H. Talbot, M.A. Thompson, and M. R. Wright were in attendance,

Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, Acting City Clerk S.

Rauh, City Engineer I.R. Zahynacz, Director of Planning C.R. Felip, Fire Chief
J. L. Baillie and Deputy Fire Chief G. Routley.

SPECIAL PRESENTATION:

- His “Worship Mayor Le M. Traboulay introduced David Qualley and in
recognition for his outstanding performance at the Amsterdam International |
Youth Skills Olympics presented him with a book on Port Coquitlam and a City

Pin.

DELEGATION:

His Worship Mayor = L.M.. Traboulay introduced representatives of the
Canadian Association of Industrial, Mechanical and Allied Workers’ Office and
Technical Employees Union who spoke on resurrecting Competition in the Copper
and Copper Alloy Tubing Industry. oe : a a

independently . proven that Wolverine has been manufacturing, sub-standard thin a
wall tubing that fails to meet the standards required by the Provincial =~
Plumbing Code, while purporting that the tubing did meet those standards and:
which has and continues to result in premature failures. of copper tubing
systems and significant repair costs for bullding owners, and = -

-., Whereas Canadian Association of Industrial, Mechanical and Allied Workers, _
the Office and Technical Employees’ Union, and supervisory staff at the

Annacis Island Tubing Mill are working with the Federal and. Provincial. .:
Governments and experienced B.C: businessmen to re-open the mill and produce a -
cost. effective, quality product for domestic and export markets, but Wolverine |

has stated it does not want competition, and . oo ee ee
