Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the City Engineer investigate the possibility of raising the road surface of Pitt River Road on both sides of the Red Bridge. Withdrawn. Following a brief discussion, Alderman Mabbett agreed to withdraw his motion in view of the intention of Council to make a decision next week on routes it wishes the Province to consider for highway construction. Moved by Alderman Thompson: Ald. Thompson~ '76 Budget discussions~ open to publi Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That discussions on the Budget for 1976 be open to the public. Carried. Alderman Keryluk voted against the resolution. Alderman Thompson inquired whether the City Engineer had had an Ald. Thompson re surface opportunity as yet to investigate the cost of relocating the surface water drainage Hyde Creek water from the Hyde Creek Centre through a storm drain, and the City Centre Engineer advised he had not done this as he anticipated the cost would be very great ~ possibly $50,000.00 to $100,000.00; however, he agreed to a request from Alderman Thompson to ascertain a more exact figure. Alderman Laking referred to a broken street light by Dogwood Manor Ald.Laking re S/light repair on Seymour Street, and he advised that the B.C. Hydro & Power Authority ~Dogwood Mano . on Seymour St. will net accept the responsibility for the cost of repair as the street light was not installed by the Authority. A discussion ensued and several members of Council stated their understanding that the street light had been installed by the City last year; however, it was generally agreed that an investigation should be undertaken to ascertain whether or not the light had been, in fact, installed by the City. Alderman Laking referred to the problem of cars parking in the Ald.Laking re Sr.Citizens' loading zone for Senior Citizens at the Recreation Centre, and to his loading zone~ Rec. Centre suggestion that the curb be painted yellow as a means of enforcing this restriction, members of Council generally agreed. Alderman Keryluk advised he had noted a light out and one flickering Ald.Keryluk re light outage, at the Hyde Creek Centre, and he requested that this be locked into. etc., Hyde Creek Centre Ald.Keryluk re S/lighting- W.end of Chalmers St. Alderman Keryluk advised of complaints he had received that the © western end of Chalmers Street is lacking in adequate streetlighting, and he requested that this matter be investigated. Alderman Keryluk advised of a plugged ditch at the north end of Ald.Keryluk re plugged ditch-f Rosewood in Birchland Manor, and he requested the City Engineer to check N.end Rosewood} into this matter.
