Points North makes big splash in Edmonton THE BLUEBACK SWIM Club kicked off their lang course(S0m) season with the Keyano International meet in Edmonton April 27. The event was good preparation for the swimmers to get used to a longer pool. Many had never swam in a 50 metre pool before. The Bluebacks joined other swimmers in the area as Points North Association and competed against a number of teams from western Canada, as well as two teams from California and one from Hungary. Despite the high level of competition, Points North managed to place eighth out of 40 teams. A number of youths improved their rank- ings, including Thomas Demetzer who tied for First place in overall points in the ten- and-under group. This is the first time Ter- race has had an aggregate winner at this meet. The next meet for the club will be the Panhandle Invitational May 17, then Chris Kerman, Kevin Andolfatto and Garth Cox- ford head to OWawa on May 30 for the na- tionals. Two shutouts for Terrace TERRACE GIRLS 14-and-up soccer won both their games at a seven-a-side tourna- ment in Prince Rupert April 27. They pulled off their second straight shutout, cruising past the Royal Canadian Legion for a 2-0 win. Unfortunately, no official winner of the four-team tournament could be declared as a number of players on other teams failed to show.
