Caledonia school sym By Whelley Wilcox The Caledonia Senior School gym was the scene of the first basketball action of the year last Tuesday night when the much-acclaimed Harlem Clowns challenged teachers from Caledonia and Skeena secondary schools, Canada games Itseemed that half of Terrace was on hand to witness the game. The stands were packed, people sat around the sidelines on chairs and the floor, squatted, knelt and some even stood. The crowd, laughed and cheered as the Clowns began their famous antics, running, passing, dribbling and shooting cirlees around their mis- matched opponents. The most important thing of all was the way the Clowns involved the crawd. Laughing, whistling, clapping and cheering was the crowds’ response to the Clown's innocent fun with embarrased victims from the spectators. Teams from both Terrace high schools competed. The volleyball was the last of continuing leagues play that will culminate the weekend of the 11 of November here in Terrace the Zone finals. Winners here advance to their respective provincial finals. In the race for top spot for the junior division, Skeena secondary fared well. The Skeena Junior A girls team will go into the finals in second place, behind the defeated Kitimat girls team, The locals suffered only one loss in their mes. The Skeena Junior A boys teamed fared better, finishing first in their league with Booth Ravens of Prince Rupert second and Kitimat third, The boys took Smithers twice in the final, weekend of activity before the finals. They’ve dropped only two sets all year. Snowmobile licensing: _ Now L. » Provincial regulations require, commencing November ist, 1972, that all snowmobiles in use must be licensed. Vehicles operated on highways must have a licence under the Motor Vehicle Act and can only be used on the highway if a permit has been issued by the local police office. A highway licensed snowmobile does not require an additional licence for off-highway use. All other snowmobiles must have a licence under the All- Terrain Vehicles Act, and these licences can be obtained at © _ motor licence offices. The fee is $5.00 and does not need to be renewed. Two reflective decals are issued for each snowmobile and must be applied on the vehicle, one on each side of the cowl in a conspicuous place. The Caledonia Boys came out on top, defeating both Kitimat and Houston in well played games. ; ze The girls played some good games defeating both Smither and Rupert in their matches but then came up against defeat at Kitimat’s hands in two well played games. The final playday is on Nov. 11 ta determine the zone champions in both boy’s and girl’s volleyball. As the teams g0 into the finals Caledonia girls are seeded first followed b Kitimat then Smithers. The Caledonia boys are also in:first 3 place followed by Kitimat. then Rupert. The weekend games should bring out some very good playing and a gym failed with Caledonia fans ‘would be appreciated.
