SUBJECT: Disaster Site Identification Kits

The Regional Emergency Ptanning Committee, formed of Area”
Coordinators and Provincial Emergency Personel, formed a
special sub-committee in 1983 to review the extent to which
municipalities in the G.V.R.-O.- should adopt uniform
identificaqtion for use in response to a major emergency. The
Committee recommended that kits consisting of arm bands and
vests be purchased with municipal or provinclal monies. At the
Annual Coordinators Conference in October 1984, It was decided,
by ali Area Coordinators present, to proceed this year with the
purchase of these kits with municipal money and then apply for
a possible provincial refund.

My apologies to the Council! for this unexpected request for
funds. | had not expected the purchase of these kits To occur
prior to next year. 1 do nevertheless fully support the
purchase of these very necessary kits and therefore | request
Council's approval to purchase 4 Port Coquitiam kit if funds
can be found.

require further copies please do not hesitate to ask.
