NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Ranger referred to a serious fire that occurred over the Ald.Ranger re house fire- to the residence of on Pitt River Road, and in Pitt R.Rd. mentioning the assistance given at that time, proposed the following motion: Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That ail those and organizations who offered assistance to the "Hammond" family following tbe loss of their residence on Pitt River Road through a fire over the weekend, be publicly thanked, particularly, Ms. Maureen Noir and Mr! William Casson of the Greater Vancouver Regional ‘District's Housing Department, who were responsible for re-locating the family in one of the Meridian Village units. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregeing resolution, Alderman Traboulay advised that Alderman Ranger was being rather modest about the help he too had given, and stated that he would like to commend him as well as the community at large for rallying around those in need. In speaking to the resolution quoted above, Alderman Mabbett advised that the existing streetlighting was installed over 20 yeais ago and is now totally inadequate to meet the needs of the City's growth increase, both in pedestrians and vehicles.
