Subject: May Day Amusement

Recommendation:

That the May Day Committee be permitted to contract with West Coast Amusements Ltd.
to provide amusement rides and a midway during the May Day Festival weekend.

Purpose/Problem:

To provide the Parks & Recreation Committee with information and a
recommendation regarding a proposal to add amusement rides and midway to the

May Day Festival.
History/Background

Amusement rides and midway were part of the May Day weekend during the 60's
and 70's. It is my understanding that this activity was discontinued as a result of
some financial difficulties and difficulties experienced with some of the “camies" |

staff are working to address these issues. _

Alternatives:

The Parks & Recreation Committee may:

a) Approve the proposal
b) Deny the proposal
c) Request additional information
