Your WORSHIP,

As treasurer of the British Columbia Association of Police Affiliated
Victim Witness Services, I became aware of funding from the Ministry

of the Attorney General for victim service programs. As a result, I
have applied for funding in the sum of eighteen thousand, two hundred
and seventy dollars ($18,270.00) for funding of an assistant coordinator
of our victim services program. In particular, funding for my volunteer
coordinator, Pat BAN, who herself is also a volunteer. On September

20, 1987, Brian POLLICK, director of Special projects for the Ministry
stated I would have these funds for my program. Likewise, Linda LIGHT,
Program Manager of Victim Services for the Ministry stated the same af-
firmation on September 29, 1987.

The Ministry of the Attorney General has agreed to fund up to fifty per
cent (50%) of existing victim service programs. My calculations show
that I presently spend thirty-nine per cent (39%) of my time in the
victim service area. Therefore, this represents approximately twenty
three thousand, one hundred and twenty-three dollars ($23,123) of the
Community Resources Unit's budget.

In order to secure funding for a Victim Services Assistant Coordinator,

I need to show the Ministry that I am the Coordinator of the Coquitlam/
Port Coquitlam R.C.M.P. victim Services program. When employed, I

was asked to enhance our Victim Service Program and I believe I have

done so whereas we offer every service available by any other police~
based victim service program in the province. We have also been rec-
ognized by the Federal and Provincial governments as a leader in the

field of police~based victim services. In order to secure this provincial
funding I request that council amend my present contract to reflect

recognition that;
