Mission - Port Moody CHAIRMAN GOVERNMENT CAUCUS JUL /- 1986 June 24, 1986 Mr. Ralph Pentland, Director Water Management Branch Inland Waters Directorate 9th Floor 351 St. Joseph Blvd, Hull, Quebec Dear Mr. Pentland: I am writing as a follow-up to our meeting of June 6, 1986 with George Laking, Alderman, City of Port Coquitlam respecting the Coquitiam River Flood Protection project. As you are aware, the City of Port Coquitlam has been pursuing the above-mentioned project for quite some time. The continued good health and safety of the residents of their Municipality rests on an early completion of this vital project. This is the basis for the Councils concern and dedication to this issue and, to this end, they are anxious tc see it underway in the very near future. I would like to reiterate some of the major points made at our meeting. 1. One portion of the area requiring flood protection runs through an Indian Reserve and a second through the Provincially-owned Colony Farm property. Presently, neither of these two sections are scheduled for inclusion in the project. However, as we have been assured by Mac Clark, Regional Director, Inland Waters Directionate, under a Provincial-Federal Agreement a project will include all those. properties required to maintain the integrity of the system. oo 0/2
