MEMORANDUM

RE: Location of Portable Classroom ~ Grace Gospel Church

The Grace Gospel Tabernacle has asked for permission to locate a
portable classroom on the Property behind the church building.
Council will recall tha: we have dealt with two similar requests
from churches and approval for a portable was granted. In the
previous cases however the request was made while the property was
being re-zoned. In other words the re-zoning permitted a variety
of buildings to be located on the lot provided they were used for
church purposes in accordance with the zoning by-law.

In this particular case the property is zoned RS~2 and it May be
“premature in that. particular location to consider institutional
P~2 zoning. If Council has ho objection to location of a portable
classroom facility then the question should be put to the Board of
Variance for clearance. The building would of course have to meet
all the other building by-law vequirements,.

i have discussed this request with the planner and we agree that the
foregoing would be the route to take. If Council agrees with the
proposal to locate the portable classroom on the site we will forward
the request to the Board of Variance for their consideration.
