Open Air Burning and Rezoning Further to Mayor Campbell's memorandum of July 20th, 1978 concerning open air. burning and rezoning that was considered at the Council meeting of July 24th, 4978 and the discussion that ensued in Council at that time we have prepared the attached By-law No. 1615 which is an amendment to the City's present Fire Prevention By-law. The amendment, if passed, would alter the present regulations to provide ‘that: 1. Open air burning at land clearing operations would be permitted, by permit, during the October 15th to April 14th time period and permits would be issued by the Fire Department on a routine basis without reference to Council. . : Open air burning at land clearing operations would be completely prohibited during the period April 15th to October 14th and uo provision for exemption would be provided. That is, under the terms of the By-law Council would have no authority to allow burning under any circumstances whatsoever. Burning on residential property during the semi-annual clean-up periods would continue to be permitted as would small confined fires for barbecues. All other types of open air burning would be prohibited at all times. A burning permit would not be issued if the provisions of the Tree Cutting By-law have not been fulfilled. .
