It was agreed that this would be investigated further. Alderman Laking reported on his attendance at the last Eagle Ridge Hospital and Health Care Centre Society meeting and outlined the content of a resolution, which was subsequently defeated, that was intended to eliminate the two Government and three Municipal appointees to the Hospital Board. Alderman Ranger noted the receipt of a letter of thanks to the Recreation Department for the assistance given the New View Society, from its Director, Dr. S. Little and briefly outlined the Seciety's function and programmes, and further thanked the members of Council for their support as well. Alderman Traboulay indicated that the next meeting of the Health Committee to be held next week will deal with the subjects of Racing Pigeons and an application for a By-law to permit them to be kept in the City and, additionally, the past summer's Mosquito Control Programme will be reviewed. Alderman Traboulay registered a complaint about the poor service being provided by B.C. Telephone Company at this time and further noted that the cost of moving telephone poles is extremely expenc ive. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That a letter be written to the British Columbia Telephone Company expressing concern over the poor quality of service being experienced by residents of the City. Terrdied. During discussion of the foregoing resolution Alderman Thompson suggested that repeated complaints from individuals respecting the poor service could possibly get more response from the Company. Alderman Mabbett advised that the week of October 18th ta 22nd, 1976 had been suggested as "Fall Clean-Up Week" and further that in view of the present ban on outdoor burning that the entire month of October be designated as the time during which such burning would be permitted. a ptetton ed
