1. Justice Building Construction: FEB 14 1972

} have attached to this report a memo from the District of Coquitlam out-
lining some change orders for the Justice Building contracts. These changes were

approved by the District of Coquitlam at their last meeting.

Aiderman Leking has been acting as the Inter-Municipal liaison during

the construction of the Justice Building and I understand that he has consulted
with Mr. Reed of the District of Coquitlam and 1s prepared to recommend the change
orders listed,
In view of the severe weather during the last month, the contractor has

‘been unable to complete the roof of the Justice Building and construction has been
held up. I understand that work is underway again now and it is anticipated that
the completion of the building will be at least the end of March. As this date
coincides with the completion of the Federal Funds Programme, I have written to the
Department of Municipal Affaire asking 1f an extension of time will be granted due

to the extenuating circumstances.

2. Change Room Ceder Drive Park:

Tenders vere called last Decenber for the construction of Change Roos
dn Cedar Drive Park es pert of the Parks Capital Improvement Programme. Our budget
for this perk included approximately $23,000.00 for this building, however, when

tenders vere received they were far in excess of this price. The only two tenders

received were Russ Reid Limited - $39,494.00 and Arlen Construction - $33,995.00.

In view of the cost of construction the Building Department have obtained

individual prices on sub-trades and they feel that the building could be constructed
for around $25,000.00. Some minor modifications are being made in the plan but the
building is pastcally the same as was originally planned. This has been discussed
with the Recreation Committee and it is recommended that we proceed with the building
on this basis with the Engineering Department co-ordinating the construction and by
using sub-trades.

* $€ Counctl approve of this method of construction, a resolution would be

in order to reject both of the tenders received.
