an ih iets When Yield Signs are used at right turn camps, particularly where the radius of curvature is less than 60 m, the visibility of u Yield Sign installed on the right side may be inadequate, In these situations consideration should be given to installing an additional sign on the left side. A Yield Sign may be supplemented by Yield Ahead Sign (WB-2) (Sec. 43.51). Usage Guidelines Yield Sign control should be considered when the basic right-of-way rule does not provide for safe and efficient traffic movements, and a Stop Sign is considered to be too restrictive, ; Yield Signs should not normally be used at any intersection where Stop Signs exist. As a general rule Yield Signs should only be used where traffic engineering studies considering such aspects as traffic volumes, traffic speeds, intersection sight lines, collision experience, etc., indicate that its usage is warranted. Without restricting the intended usage, Yield Signs may be warranted in assigning right-of-way at locations where one or more of the following conditions exist: (a) on the minor road approach to an intersection where the safe vehicular approach speed is greater than [5 km/h: (b) where a fully developed acceleration lane is not provided atthe entrance ramp toan expressway or a right-turn ramp at an at-grade intersection: (c) within an intersection with a divided highway where a Stop Sign is installed at the entrance to the first roadway and further control is necessary at the entrance to the second roadway; and where the median width between the roadways is less than 30 m. SPEED CONTROL Speed Control signs shail indicate the maximum lawful speed under ideal conditions, or minimum lawful speed under ideal conditions on the section‘ of roadway identified by the signs. During an introductory period following conversion to Metric Units, tab signs with the legend “km/h” shall be placed below all speed control signs.
