15th, 1973, Mr. Lee Kallen be employed -on the same basis as last year to co~ordin-

ate May Day activities for 1974 with part-time involvement for the months of
October, November, and December, 1973, ee . Carried.

Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution, Alderman -
Traboulay inquired as to the per diem.rate Mr. Kallen would be receiving for his
part-time work in 1973, and the City Administrator advised that it would be ap-
proximately 20% of the salary paid. Alderman Traboulay commended Mr. Kallen, who
was in attendance at the meeting, on his. work in co-ordinating the 1973 May Day,
and inquired as to the progress being made for the 1974 celebration. Mr. Kallen
advised that he is, working on a new theme called "Children of Canada" involving
the different ethnic groups and that he has. invited a well-known celebrity to
participate as a special guest at the celebrations.

That the Municipal Council of The Corporatin of the City of Port Coquitlam
herewith states its agreement in principle with the consolidation of the fire
services of The Corporation of the city of Port coquitlan and the District of
Coquitlam and that ‘the city’ s ‘Administrative Staff be instructed to bepin work
immediately 3 in 1 conjunction with the Administrative Staff of the District of
Coquitlam toward the solving of technical details . and problems to bring ‘about a
satisfactory agreenent for both municipalities and ‘their enployees;,

THAT the City’ Ss Administrative ‘stake be further “instructed that “the deadline
for the placing of the agreement before the Council for approval is January Ist,
1974;

AND THAT it be hereby declared that there will be no loss of wages to pre~
sent Fire Department employees as a result of consolidation. |

Prior to the _uestion being called on the foregoing resolution, Alderman
Ranger expressed. concern at the deadline date of January ist, 1974 and Alderman
Thompson stated he was prepared to change it. Alderman Ranger inquired whether
or not the staff could meet the deadline date and the City Administrater stated |

it would be difficult to come up with an agreement to cover all areas
