As a result of that discussion the followinz two recommendations made by the Coumittea were adopted: i, "That an official request be made to our local vember of the Lezisiature to attempt to ascertain if, in fact, the iinister of Municipal Affairs does intend to fully include Port Coquitlam in coazuter bus service and when we cen sensibly expect inplementation of this service. 2.° That rather than ro te referendun and attenpt to operate our own trial Dial-a-bus service that we offer our Community to the Provincial Covernuent and B.C. Hydro as a teat area for that service. That tis Council 20 on record as offering couplete co-operation to the Provincial Vovernnent to boring this service about very quicily and express the willineness of our Transportation Coumittee to provide in-depth informacion an to our problems, #e would also urze that all Dial-a-bus vehicles be powered by propane fuel to further enhaace our Connunity's long-range efforts for a clean environnent." As you are undoubtedly aware, t..e citizens of Pore Coquitla:;n are very anxious indeed that some form of bus tr insportation be provided in the Community s both of.a local and netropolitan nature; and we trust that Porr Coquitlam will be included in any expansion of tha bus service presently available in.our netropol= itan area, Vith Fespect to the oreration of a M1al-a-bus, it is the feeling of the City's Bus Transportation Committee and of the Council that the Dial-a-bus concept will need extensive testir:, 1nd trdale before it can becone a workable aystem for an area that has suci c ‘# variance of comaunity sizas and inter- connecting probleme aa the Vancouver jj spolitan Area and the Committee and Council believe that in Port Coquitas. _seause of our size and vapid wrowth, that we have a Community that could we . lend itself for a test area for a Dial- a-bus service. We know that our Council will be very interested to learn of your thoughts in thie matter and we look forward to hearing froa you in due course. . Yours very truly, R. A. Freenan ry City Clerk.
