Fortunately, she's mot too far away..., Rachelle Chinnery (co-owner of Mudslinger Clay Studios) has recently jotned the board to fill the vacancy left by Bill Rennie. Rachelle will be a definine asset, as ber interests seem to lean towards fundraising! Welcome, Rachelle. The “Too Geed for the Shard Pile Sale” held on November 7ch at the Gallery raised $1,316 in 6 hours towards the cost of the renovation! Big chanks to board members Celia Rice-Jones, Janet Turpin, Debra Sloan, Gillian McMillan and Dona Nabara for all their help!! In Qetober, sales were down significantly, both from our target amount and last year's actual sales, To date in November, with the American Thanksgiving Weekend rill to come, we are down. as well, but hope to have a busy weekend to wrap up che month. Across the street, Crafthouse has hung a larae banner on their neighbour's building which has apparently had a significant positive impact on their sales. So, “to keep up with the Jones", as the saying goes, [ will invescigare the Guild having a banner hung on the theatre prop shop next door. We are planning for a busy December, and hope oo make up some of the losses we've had over the last year, but we need to have your best work in order to suceeed. Thank you! ‘The jury commiteee met in lace October. and we're very pleased to welcome Katherine Hoffman of Nelson, BC into the Gallery. Kathi works with porcelaineous stoneware, wheel-chrown and occasionally altered, which is high fired in an electric kiln. Karhi loves to work with the cup form as it provides a swift way oo work out designs in series, anc more importancly, it is the most intimately used form and reflects the inumacy of the experience of making. The Gallery looks forward to recetving Karthi's work for display in the near future. The exhibit space has been transformed inco an ethereal forest during the month of November with Rachelle Chinnery’s Embodiment exhibit. Her large, handbuilt vessels, placed on pieces of mirror, are evocative of the land and seascapes of the West Coast; the mirror reflects che work into another dimension and cass wonderful spears of light and shadow on the wall. Embodiment will make way for Sugar &f Spice - little extras for the holiday table, which will be set up on the 3rd and 4th of December, The exhibit opening will coincide with the book launch on the night of Thursday, December 10th. [n January, the Gallery will hold its annual 10% off Sale on all items (except publications). Gallery artists must phone the Gallery if chey don't wish to have their work on sale at this time (the Gallery absorbs the 10% discount - artests sull receive regular comenission}.
