THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM . C ¢ t iy '. , VW MEMORANDUM JUN 16 1980 TOs Mayor and Council June 13th, 1980 FROM: F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer Re: Purchase of Rock Raking Attachment | for Parks Department Council in the 1980 Budget authorized the purchase of a tractor mounted rake for use in prepdra‘tion ¢& topsoil for parks. and boulevard work. The amount authorized in the #0 -onetyes budget was $2,500.00. Be ee rete TEI a a We have recently come across:a-machine which not only rakes the soil but also picks up-rocks and other debris ¢?17: leaving the :soil bed in a condition where it can be immediately»? soe: seeded. This is a tractor mounted machine which would attach* : easily to our Zettlemeyer tractor. We have had the machine ste. -ise:. demonstrated to us and were extremely impressed with its ; = capabilities. There are several machines in use in the surr- ounding area including the Parks Department of Vancouver and the owners seem happy with the equipment. Although the equipment is worth over $6,000.00, there is a demonstrator available for $5,100.00. This is about double what was allowed in the budget but we have already saved most of the difference in the purchase of several other pieces of equipment this year. The Parks and Recreation Committee recommends that we purchase this rock hound instead of the tractor mounted rake and that the additional funds be taken from savings in other parks equipment. » Peters, P.
