A 21% cent adjustment is provid- ed for each 2-point index change subject to a waiver of the first 5 cents due there- under, (such waiver limited to 2% cents the first year). ‘ WORKING SCHEDULE “When any employee on continuous operations has a scheduled work week of 5 days at work and 2 days off, his first scheduled day off shall be considered as the 6th day of his work week, and his 2nd scheduled day off, whether or not succes- sive, as the 7th day of his work week. When such work- ing schedule contains a reg- ularly recurring work week of 6 days at work and 1-day off, such scheduled day off shall be considered as the 7th day of his work week and the day immediately preceding as the 6th day of his work week.” It should be noted that, ac- cording to a recent report, the Rubber Workers at Good- rich Company’s Akron plant have voted to abandon the 6- day 36-hour work week es- tablished at Akron Rubber Company during the depres- sion to spread available jobs. The vote to. switch to five 8-hour days followed company assurances that there would be no layoffs, and that there would be substantial invest- ment in new equipment for the plants. Over 5,000 em- ployees are affected. Their decision is expected to influ- ence employees at other rub- ber plants.
