We propose to set up a Family Place in the Tri-City area and, to that end, have recently received funding from the Ministry of Social Services and the Ministry of Women’s Programs and Government Sevices and Minister responsible for Families. Family Places have been operating in the lower mainland area of British Columbia for about twenty years. There are several Famiiy Places in Vancouver, One each in Surrey, New Westminster, Richmond, Chilliwack and Bowen Island. There are about sixteen Family Places throughout the province. To date, there is no Family Place in the Tri-Cities Area. Our Board of Directors was set up last April to bring the Family Place Concept to this area. We have enclosed a copy of our concept brochure for your further information. Our long term goal is to provide ongoing support, information, networking for parents and caregivers as well as quality programs for children in a respectful environment. Presently, we run a once-a- week drop in on Wednesday mornings from ten till noon from our location in the north-east sector of Coquitlam, 3425 Victoria Drive. Ideally, Family Place should operate as a drop-in on a Monday through Friday basis to meet Tri-City Families’ emerging needs. We propose to increase our services beginning in January 1992 and to that end are presently devising a program utilizing grant money received and anticipated from various funding sources. ee /2 Mote: A cle lepa low usc l be f tq atterdauce.
