Carried. REPORTS From the Environmental Protection Committee, March 17th, 1989 regarding Amendments to the City of Port Coquitlam fire Prevention Bylaw. Moved by Alderman Farnworth: seconded by Alderman Wright: That Council not proceed with final reading of Bylaw No. 2412 and that the City Clerk be directed to prepare a new Bylaw which incorporates the following recommendations of the Committee: l. That burning be allowed on all properties zoned A-1 under a seasonal permit for a period not exceeding six months. No material other than on-site generated agricultural organic material shall be burned. Carried. Moved by Alderman Farnworth: seconded by Alderman Wright: That burning be permitted on all occupied residential properties each year during the last weekend in March and the first weekend in April only and that advertisements be placed in local newspapers informing residents of this. Because there is not enough time to advertise prior to the last weekend in March it is recommended that the burning period for this year be established as the first two weekends in April. No material other than garden refuse generated on the property shall be burned. Carried. Mayor Traboulay, Aldermen Gates and xeryluk voted against the resolution. That the Fire Department be empowered to require extinguishing of any fires, whether under permit or not, for environmental as well as hazardous conditions. Carried.
