January 13th, 1975 design of the building, and was advised that it would be of a functional type with esthetics as required by the City's Planning Department. In answer to a query from Alderman Keryluk, the representative advised that the site would accommodate 12 mail mobiles initially, and 45 at maximum operation. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That Application R#27/74 to rezone a 25,000 square foot site at the corner of Sefton Street and Salisbury Avenue, legally described as the Ws of Rem. of Lot K, D.L. 479, Group 1, Plan 6825, from RM-1 (Low-Density Apartment Resideatial) to P-1 (Civic Institutional) to permit the development of a Postal Letter Carriers! Depot, be referred back to the Planning & Zoning Committee for further consideration and report back to Council. Carried. From the City Administrator, January 10th, 1975, referring to the mosquito control fact that in December of 1974 the Health Committee reported that the Fraser Valley Mosquito Control Board had voted to discontinue operations, and that the Board had asked the individual municipalities what they desired to do for mosquito control in 1975; further, that he had advised he would be attending a meeting of officials of the Greater Vancouver Regional District and staff of Coquitlam, Surrey and New Westminster to discuss how the G.V.R.D, might assist in co-ordinating mosquito control, with the main object being to provide one agency with the legal power to enter into a contract to provide aerial spray and whatever else is necessary for mosquito control. The City Administrator, in his report, stated that the Regional District's Letters Patent have now been amended to enable them to enter into mosquito control on behalf of the municipalities concerned; however, rather than hire staff for this function, the District will probably contract with an agency to provide control and management; also, the Mosquito Control Board has called a meeting for January 16th and has indicated it has had replies from most of its members regarding the continuation of the service for 1975, which will be discussed at that time. In his report, the City Administrator advised that at this point the City can take either route - either with the G.V.R.D. (which would provide assurance of dealing with a body that has been given power by the Provincial Cabinet to carry out a mosquito control program) - or, if the Fraser Valley Mosquito Control Board elects to organize something for 1975, membership with the Board can be retained and provide time to organize somevhing on a regional basis locally.
