(250) 695-7613 The celebration was held at the Thornhill Community Church, And what a wonderful afternoon it was. Linda Tanner and friends from -the congregation all gathered to- gether for the special occasion. The ‘afternoon started with Pastor Ron Rooker opening the afternoon with a few words anda blessing, followed by some won- derful entertainment. Lynne Christiansen was there representing the City of Terrace saying it was a pleasure, a great pleasure to have this honour in at- _ tending on behalf of the people of Terrace sending congratulations on such a happy occasion. She presented the Gellerts with a cer- tification from the City of Terrace. John. Kroeker introduced the head table the 50th wedding anni- - versary couple - Arthur and Edel- gard Gellert, son Ronald and daughter Gerlinde — both of the children had traveled to attend and to be with their parents for this very special occasion. Then, Grace was said to bless -the food and this memorable day. Everyone then sat socializing and enjoying the delightful Juncheon prepared by ladies of the church. Arthur worked for the City of Terrace for 18 years, until his retirement. Edelgard was born on Decem- ber 1, 1929 in Herne, Germany. ARTHUR AND Edelgard Gellert gathered with family and friends Jan. 19 to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, The couple has lived in Terrace since 1963. After she fin- ished schoal she worked as a sales clerk in a store. Arthur was borr on February 5 1927 in Eastern Poland and spent his. childhood years there. Arthur’s dream was to become an Edelgard to Ca- nada, ; Arthur arrived in Canada March 1949, Edelgard followed Decem- ber 1951. Ver- non, B.C. be- came their first Canadian home. On January 19, 1952 Arthur and aerospace engin- eer, but at age 17 was drafted into HERE'‘N THERE YVONNE MOEN Edelgard Gellert were married ina little Baptist the army. After two years in a prisoner of war camp he was discharged, landing in the small town of Stad- thagen not far from Hanover. courting and fell in love in 1949. He then changed his occu- pation and went to work for the City of Terrace. Arthur and Edelgard had four children — three daughters, Ger- linde, Dolores, Ruby and son Ro- nald, Many wiil remember Edel- gard when she worked at Sam- son’s Poultry Farm or as a custo- dian at Clarence Michiel Elemen- tary jor 17 years. At the close of this wonderful and touching celebration Arthur got up to express their gratitude for the wonderful afternoon. They were overwhelmed and for once speechless. meant to them.
