The numbers in the club may
be small, but the numbers on the
cheque were as big as their hearts.

The Terrace Portuguese Club
donated a cheque for $2,500 on
Dec. 6 to the Dr. REM. Lee Hos-
pital Foundation toward the pur-
chase of the CT scanner for Mills

Memorial Hospital.

Manuel Silva, Manuel Dias,
Paulo Abreu and Joe Arruba made
the presentation to Bill McRae, a
director of the foundation, in the
lobby of the hospital on Friday.

David Viveiros, Tony Mateus and
John Prinz — were not able to be

“It’s a wonderful way to make
money,” said Arruba, as he pre-
sented the cheque. “We have a lot
of fun doing it. Next year it will be
Nov. 14.

Friday was a lucky day for the
Dr, R.E.M. Lee Hospital Founda-
tion,

The Terrace Filipino Associa-
tion came to Mills Memorial Hos-
pital on that day, Dec. 6, to present
a cheque for $800 to the founda-
tion.
President Ely Valdez and trea-
surer Roy Desierto made the pre-
sentation to Terrace Health Care
Society executive director Michael
‘Leisinger and foundation director
Bill McRae on behalf of the asso-
ciation. .

“The money came from the

proceeds from our annual dinner-

and dance in the arena on Nov. 9,”
said Valdez. “We divide the pro-
ceeds in half and give the same to
the Red Cross Society.”

“We'll have to get the paint pot
out,” said McRae to Leisinger.
“It's time to move that red line on
up the pole.”
