Request for Rental Waiver - "Dry Grad Party”

Recommendation:

It is recommended that the Terry Fox After Grad Committee be granted free rental of the
designated facilities at the Port Coquitlam Recreation Centre for their "dry" gxad party, arid;

That any extra staff costs incurred, as a result of hosting these events (ie. extra clean-up
staff) in our facility, shall be paid for by the Terry Fox After Grad Committee, and;

That any lost revenues be charged to the Civic Events account.

1.0 Purpose/Problem:

1.1 The purpose of this report is to provide information and a recommendation to the
Parks and Recreation Committee regarding the request received from the Terry Fox
After Grad Commitiee to waive rental fees for the use of Port Coquitiam Recreation -
Centre for their "dry" grad activities,

Background Information:

A letter (attached) was received from the Terry Fox After Grad Committee
requesting a donation of the Port Coquitlara Recreation Centre on May 21, 1994 for
the purpose of planning activities for a "dry" after-grad. They are requesting use of
the Old Arena, Mabbett Room and the foyer. ;

This is their third attempt at facilitating this soz of event. The first two events have
proven to be very successful. In fact, this type of event has proven to be very
popular in other communities as well. This type of an event has apparently had a

dramatic effect in reducing the problems related to normal after grad parties.
