RECOMMENDATION:

That our business license fees be increased as per the attached schedule.

BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:

The attached schedule reflects an “average” increase of 7.5% onthe proposed fees and is °
based on the 1989 budget guidelines which City Council authorized last fall.

A major review of our business licensing system was done in 1987 and this proposal

maintains the existing system which was determined by the Business Licence Task Force
in 1987 to be "fair and equitable".

It is expected that $213,

500 will be raised through business licez:se fees increased from the
$197,128 raised in 1988.
