laws foverning sornorraphy, in that while the original of certain films may be
seizec, 2 reproduction, although alike in every resrect, can not.

Using this loophole, business operations dealing in hardcore pornography are
‘nviting those individuals in the community who have maneged to obtain. hardcere
films, to lend those films for cerving purposes, after which the copies can be

rented out or sold with impunity..

The federal laws governing pornorraphy were made in the days before the present
explosion of high technology. When'those laws were passed, units such as home

video outlets were not envisawzed. ‘It is to this home video market that the new,

While thera 4s much dissension on the merit or lack thereof of softcore pornography,
‘we do not know of any individual who is prepared to say that hardcore pornography,
with its vielousness, sadism, and violence, varticularly towards the female, can
benefit a community in any way. Many people velicve that not only does hardcore
pornography not tenefit a community, it can, in fact, degrade the life of a

community, in that:
