THE CORPORATION oF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C O Uy : | ( [ +f MEMORANDUM FEB 18 1980 TO: Mayor and Council February 7th, 1980 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held Tuesday, February 5th, 1980. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman E.W. Mabbett Alderman L.M, Traboulay F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer ITEM I Re: Drainage Problem at 2532 Kingsway Avenue Council will be considering the rezoning of the above property from RS<1 to M-1. Mx. Munroe, the owner of the property, has been to the committee in the Past in order . perty. To review for Council's information, the drainage problem is the result of catch basins from Kingsway discharging at the corner of his Property and running along the frontage down Gately Street towards the river. ; Under normal circumstances, both the storm sewer and the improvement of Gately Street would have been a require- ment of rezoning. The total cost of both storm sewer and road improvements is about $15,000.00. In this case, because the present owner has a non-conforming property, the Committee is prepared to recommend that tho owner be required only to install the drainage system as part of his rezoning requirements. This : would come to Approximately $9,000.00. i Alternatively, if rezoning is not approved for the : property, Mr. Munroe would still like the drainage problem SOlved. Normal procedure for a property owner who wishes to ge which . would be equivalent to a ditch. If this work were to be done by the City out of the City's capital budget, it would place low on the priority list compared to the many other drainaga Problems. The Conmittee therefore recommends that the responsi- bility for storm sewering the frontage be the responsibility of the owner, even if rezoning does not take place. [2vvas
