fall by Douglas & Mcintyre.

last week in Vancouver,

The Emily Carr College of:
Art and Design has eliminated
its outreach program for
Temote communities in an ¢f-
fort to slash its budget deficit.

The program frequently of-
fered courses and workshops at
communities throughout the
northwest.

The 50 artist teachers who
used to travel to remote paris
of the province to instruct have
been laid off.

The
$220,000 budget has been
turned over to full-time pro-
grams offered in Vancouver.

Seniors get

refresher

A COURSE to help mature
drviers upgrade their skills is
coming back to Terrace.

The’ 55 Alive Driver
Refresher Course is to be
held here June 3 and 4 at the
Skeena Health Unit
auditorium. Times are either 9
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 to 5
p.m. each day.

The course is being sub-
sidized by the City of Terrace
through the Seniors Advisory
Commission, so the cos! to
seniors will be only $5 for the
sever-hour course. | Non-
seniors pay $20.

The course is designed Lo up-
date your driving skills and to
promole safety and indepen-
dence in driving. It consists of
classroom instruction only and
doesn’t involve any tests.

Last year 32 people com-
pleted tBis course. For more in-
