Automatic Doors - Terry Fox Library
(Five Star Committee - September 16, 1993)

Recommendation:

That City Council authorize the installation of two sets of "push button controlled"
automatic doors at the Terry Fox Library, and;

That the $5,000 available in the Five Star Committee budget be allocated for this project,

and;

That the City Treasurer/Deputy Administrator be instructed to identify a funding source for
the remaining funds to complete the project.

Background Information:

The Five Star Committee is committed to improving access to all public buildings. The
doors at the Terry Fox Library are very difficult to open for persons with physical
limitations.

Staff have met with a representative of the Terry Fox Library, and after reviewing the
various options, have concluded that the installation of "push button controlled” automatic
doors best meet our requirements and provide a cost effective solution to the issue.
