Traboulay, Aldermen M.C. Farnworth, M.D. Gates, J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, W.W. Stewart, and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, Deputy City Engineer D.G. Riecken, Parks and Recreation Director K.J. Taylor, Director of Community Planning C. Felip and Secretarial Assistant to the City Clerk S. Rauh. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Stewart: That the minutes of the Public Hearing and the Regular Council meeting held on December 18th, 1989, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS: His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay introduced Mr. Alain Chateauneuf, 1157 Citadel Drive, who addressed Council regarding Community Mail Boxes. Mr. Chateauneuf presented Council members with a newspaper article and a letter from the Postal Service Customer Council Canada and requested Council to lay charges against Canada Post Corporation for not fulfilling its obligations. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the City of Port Coquitlam check with our Solicitors the possibility of our going to court on behalf of our citizens for "Breach of Contract" by Canada Post in their failing to deliver mail to our citizens at their civic address since the appropriate charge has been made by Canada Post for this delivery. Carried. His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay ivrcoduced Mr. Charlie Naylor of the Simon Fraser Student Society who addressed Council regarding Proposed Tuition fee increases and asked Council to support the recommendations contained in their letter Moved by Alderman Farnworth: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: oe That City Council support the Simon Fraser Student Society's call for an immediate tuition freeze at the B.C. colleges and universities. Carried. Alderman Wright voted against the resolution.
