Re: Recreational! Use of Howe Sound

During recent months the Council of West Vancouver, together
with other Municipalities on the Lower Maintand, has recelved several
totters and petiticas from citizens and groups who are particutarly
Concerned with the current minera! exploration on Gambier Istand and
the preservation of Howe Sound a8 & recreationa! area. {Undoubtedly
you are also aware of this concern.)

The Council of West Vancouver formaily stated Its position at
its Policy and Planning Comittes Meeting held April 8, 1990:

"THAT Council re-attirm that pertian of its November 14, 1972
motion related to the recreational use of Howe Sound,

. THAT WHEREAS Howe Sound Is a recreattonal resource of

substantial worth to the entire Lower Malntand region of
British Columbia, and wilt be of increastng importance
