Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng., City Treasurer G.F. Forcier, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, Works & Utilities Superintendent G. Ulmer, Planning Officer L. Lee, and Parks Superintendent W. Kim, CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Ranger: Minutes - Jan.27/75 Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on January 27th, 1975, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS: A delegation from the Owners, Strata Plan N.W. 20 (Woodside Estates) Owners, Strata P1.NW appeared before the Council with reference to garbage collection and 20 (Woodside Estates)re advised that durirg the past four or five years they have been paying garbage pick u twice for garbage collection; i.e., to the City through property taxes ° and to a private collector; and they asked that the City make the necessary arrangements to pick up garbage at their individual units. Mr. A. Wheatley, Chairman of the Strata Council, addressed the Council and advised that at a recent meeting of the Strata Council it had been agreed that private garbage collection should cease and they advised that although City trucks would have to enter private property to pick up the garbage, the Strata Council was quite prepared to extend its insurance to cover City vehicles. Mr. Wheatley referred to previous proposals to construct a garbage compound at the edge of the condominium property at Coast Meridian Road and he advised that in his opinion, this was not really practical due to the volume of garbage generated by the fifty-two units. Several other residents of Woodside Estates were a GB rtorded the opportunity of speaking to the Council and members of the Council referred to a proposal presented by the 1974 Public Works Committee to institute a charge for all garbage service in the City and suggested that this be re-examined by the 1975 Public Works Committee, although it had been rejected by Council last year.
